It is with an immense amount of sincerity that I write this testimonial for and on behalf of The Sunflower Lab. I seldom write such letters because frankly, most companies and people do the minimum necessary to complete the job and no more. However, this is absolutely not the case with Sunflower. SnapKnot hired Sunflower Lab to develop a mobile wedding photographer browser application that linked to profiles listed on the snapknot website. Overall we were very happy working with the Sunflower team. The communication and response time were excellent. The development speed was especially good. We had some internal delays but Sunflower was able to pick up where the project halted and deliver according to our project scope and budget in a timely fashion. We have been pleased with the end result, and so far our recently released (August 2011) app has received a great deal of positive feedback from both photographers and end users. Being patient, because I'm not a patient person. They were patient with me and would tell me what I need. Again, this is not my background at all. I know that all the pieces work, just not how they work, and they're patient with me. Customer service was great more than anything. I love the work that went into it, how much they cared about it and wanted to make it right. If they thought it should go one way and I thought it should go another way, we'd have live discussions about what I wanted, and this is why they think, in the technical world, it should be this way. We'd go back and forth. Sometimes I'd say yes, but sometimes I said, âNo, we're going with what I said.â We'd end it there, but we'd always have a discussion about it, so I appreciate that

would say that some of the work is outsourced to India, and I probably would've liked to have known. From midnight to 8 o'clock, sometimes I was going back and forth with someone from India working on it. I didn't mind that; when things come my way, I'd rather get it knocked out. By knowing up front that there's that option, then maybe I could've scheduled my next seven months off of having a different type of sleep schedule.

hey performed very well. I haven't had any communication issues. We use Trello for the most part. That's worked out really well. Then we also have a Slack channel, but we don't use that too much. I'm partial to Trello by this time with them. Sunflower Labs has two partners, from my understanding; Ronak Patel and Yash Patel. Ronak's in Hilliard, Ohio, which is a suburb of Columbus. Yash lives in New Jersey, so I talked mostly with Yash, who would do the design and overview. Ronak's more on the financial side; he's a developer as well. Then I'd deal with a project manager, who's over in India. It was a mix of Yash in New Jersey and the project manager in India. I felt like I had a lot of control over things, too, saying, âHey, this is what I want. Let's see where you have it in a month from now.â Sometimes, we'd talk twice a week; sometimes we'd only talk once every other week; sometimes we'd talk every day for three weeks.

To be honest with you, I have zero backgrounds in that world. It was really refreshing to me that they were able to take pictures that I drew. I made some wireframes myself using Dynamic Panels and some other software, but for the most part, they were able to take what was in my head and conceived to paper and turn it into a working product. It exceeded my expectations. We needed development, obviously, and a feeling of confidentiality, which is my biggest concern of anything, which they were able to do. They built and are continuing to work on our apps on iOS and Android.

A couple of things. Typically, the design is done by us, and then Mobisoft implements it. However, there are certain designs that are very hard to implement or that could be implemented in a different, much easier way. Sometimes, the engineers know those alternatives. It would have been nice if those engineers had recommended some changes.

They helped not only with this project, but they also had good suggestions about building a product video, which we put together on a shoestring budget. They were on budget and on time. Their project management and communications skills are good. They use Basecamp as a tool. Thatâs a product that I looked at maybe six years ago and started using. We brought it back into play, and Iâm using it for about 10 of my projects.

It was a partnership for the design of the application. They have an extremely clever marketing and user interface capability. Number one, theyâre affordable, and number two, we went in with a crude idea of what the intuitive interface would be. They had strong and interesting recommendations for moving away from the "blood and guts" perspective that might typically come out of a medical device. Our intuitive interface doesnât have opthosclerotic plaque or a heart shriveling to show what happens as people age, or they develop cardiovascular disease. But it's based on the concept of having a maple leaf change colors as it would happen during fall foliage.
