When you plan it correctly, then you can expect the team will meet the deadline. Sometimes, they do it successfully and sometimes not. However, what I can say is that they did try to get results in the shortest time possible. For example, two days ago [July 2016], we were working until 2 a.m. because we had deadlines, and we just finished. When something has to be done, it's doable. KindGeek always does everything they can to get it done.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
KindGeek was involved in the development of our mobile app. It's full stack, which means we have a web front-end, back-end algorithm, and mobile developer. KindGeek takes care of all development. The decisions, planning, and design we are doing in-house. The execution and the actual writing of the code is done there. Everything actually starts from the technology stack. Since we chose [a group in] Ukraine as our development team, it was easy for us to find PHP developers and iOS developers â part of them are Android, too. In our organization, we have team leaders here in Israel, and the developers are in Ukraine. We decided to make a dedicated team that is controlled from here, but everything is done there in Ukraine. We are doing a lot of PHP and Node.js. All the back-end, front-end, and mobile development is done there.

We have two R&D centers: one here in Israel with mostly team leaders, architects, and so on, and the working hands in Ukraine. The question here is what does the service provider NOT do well. In our experience, there's not much QBurst doesn't do well. Beyond their technical expertise, they are deeply vested in your project's success and will collaborate very closely with you and your organization to ensure your project, from start to finish, is delivered on time and on budget.
This is a tough question :) QBurst is quite good and hard to say where they can "improve" but if I had to single out anything it would be their UI capabilities. They have improved significantly over the years but of course they are more development oriented with interface design as an add-on service vs. a design shop with some tech capability. No vendor can provide all solutions 100% but they are extremely capable in building out completed interfaces provided to them. And the designers they have in-house for interface development have, I have noted, improved gradually in the past couple of years.
No project is perfect and/or without its complications. During any times where there was a misunderstanding or confusion, QBurst team has always, *always* assessed fully the situation and has provided a successful solution and or the appropriate support to get the project back on track, as needed.
Again, the question here is what has the provider NOT built for us? QBurst has built a number of extremely robust custom applications for us internally as well as for our clients. The largest application built out, to date, has been a custom job board for a client with over 90+ features for both employers and job seekers. We recently completed another client project who wanted to consolidate a number of their branded/separate web sites into one application from Joomla to Drupal; the project also required the new site/application to be mobile responsive. It was an extensive feat which was completed seamlessly and efficiently on time and on budget. These are two of MANY projects we have partnered with QBurst on and of which we are extremely proud of.

What did the service provider do well?
The question here is what does the service provider NOT do well. In our experience, there's not much QBurst doesn't do well. Beyond their technical expertise, they are deeply vested in your project's success and will collaborate very closely with you and your organization to ensure your project, from start to finish, is delivered on time and on budget.
Where could the service provider improve?
This is a tough question :) QBurst is quite good and hard to say where they can "improve" but if I had to single out anything it would be their UI capabilities. They have improved significantly over the years but of course they are more development oriented with interface design as an add-on service vs. a design shop with some tech capability. No vendor can provide all solutions 100% but they are extremely capable in building out completed interfaces provided to them. And the designers they have in-house for interface development have, I have noted, improved gradually in the past couple of years.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
No project is perfect and/or without its complications. During any times where there was a misunderstanding or confusion, QBurst team has always, *always* assessed fully the situation and has provided a successful solution and or the appropriate support to get the project back on track, as needed.
What did the service provider build or do for you? What was your project?
Again, the question here is what has the provider NOT built for us? QBurst has built a number of extremely robust custom applications for us internally as well as for our clients. The largest application built out, to date, has been a custom job board for a client with over 90+ features for both employers and job seekers. We recently completed another client project who wanted to consolidate a number of their branded/separate web sites into one application from Joomla to Drupal; the project also required the new site/application to be mobile responsive. It was an extensive feat which was completed seamlessly and efficiently on time and on budget. These are two of MANY projects we have partnered with QBurst on and of which we are extremely proud of.

Raw data is collected from social media channels, fed into a distributed storage system and sorted chronologically. I think cost is always an area for improvement, but I don't think they're unreasonable in terms of service. They definitely weren't the cheapest option for us, but given the level of service, I can't say it wasn't worth it.
How did they handle problems and issues that came up during development?
I don't know if I can share quantitative figures with you, but they've delivered work ahead of schedule on a regular basis. Their development output comes to us already tested, which means we have very few user-facing defects.

I think itâs worked out well for us. I canât make any recommendations for improvement based on our experience with them. Assuming they operate this way with their other clients, Iâd venture to say they have a fantastic team there. Client satisfaction is clearly a priority for them.

I think they really adapt to what the client needs. We manage the project directly, and they have developers that work under our supervision. We also have the ability to have a project manager and quality assurance person on their side, if we wanted. Weâve used that a little bit in the past, but mostly weâve done the testing, the quality assurance, and the management.

The major challenge that the CAN Land project posed was the complexity of data organisation and the search model. For such projects of enormous scope and complexity designing the right software architecture is extremely important. Indeed, as complexity and size of software grows the software architecture becomes more and more important to a point where it dominates technology as a software construction material. In the course of developing the games Bullshit, Bridge and Chess we defined, refined and documented the underlying software architecture. As a result Obecto and Shindig expanded their development efforts by joining new teams into the project. At the same time thе architecture guaranteed that all development was done according to a certain set of rules and principles, following a unified and streamlined approach. Not only have our architectural solutions addressed organizational issues, but they also ensured a set of extremely challenging attributes such as scalability, extensibility, maintainability and reliability. All these attributes can not be solved by simply applying off-the-shelf technologies and existing solutions. For example, the aspect of video communication needed a non-obvious, non-linear synergy between several technologies and architectural approaches. In a series of projects Obecto had built quite an expertise in the promising area of zoomable user interfaces (ZUI). The design challenge in the ePaper project was to successfully combine (more) the ZUI paradigm with the physical experience of browsing a publication. The goal was to make if allow users to read though a publication as an ordinary book, but at the same time immerse into a zoomable screen, which can deliver various levels of detail and additional functionality, such as rating, an option for adding comments and one for sharing selected portions of the publication. Our solution consists of 2 major modules - the Viewer and the Editor. The Viewer is accessible from ordinary users who are browsing through or reading a publication, while the Editor is a special-permissions module, accessible only to the publication editors, who define and edit the interactive portions of the publicationâs content. A complementary part of our solution is a server-based automation service for generating all image pyramids that the ZUI requires. (less)

Our client Shift Global is a globally recognized design agency specialized in generating momentum-building solutions. The company approached us with the request to produce the marketing site (more) theyâve designed for a new brand of extremely high-end gins - OxleyTM gin. As usual, Shift Global provided us with precise down-to-the-pixel designs, detailed interaction requirements and a set of challenging constraints. Since oxleygin.com was a marketing site, its initial download time was of critical importance for the success of the marketing campaign, so Shift Global had fixed constraints on the allowed download time and on the overall size of the application. In addition to that, the development cycle had to be as short as possible, because the start date of the marketing campaign was very close. Considering the time we had, in order to provide such a blazing speed of development, the only available option was to use Adobe Flex, which allows designers and developers to work in parallel. However, Adobe Flex was coming at the price of extra 230KB of framework code, which we knew would lead to an unacceptable delay in the initial download time. So instead of using Flex off-the-shelf we decided to use the FLit framework we had built during the summer of 2009. FLit uses only a small subset of the Flex framework, thus reducing the overhead to the total of only 27KB. In addition to this subset, we had developed our own component model which allowed designers and developers to work in parallel with the same productivity as in Flex. The product has been later re-written in Java Script. Every week during the project we made intermediate deliveries. Each delivery exceeded our clientâs expectations. Three years later Shift Global still give Obecto as an example for unmatched productivity and level of quality. (less)

CAN Land is one of our Swedish customers. The project was commissioned by one of the founders of Kvaser who aims at driving global collaboration and standardization within the CAN (Controlle (more)r Area Network) Industry. We have developed a platform with a custom search engine and nomenclature system that is to go live in the autumn of 2014. The major challenge that the CAN Land project posed was the complexity of data organisation and the search model. Thanks to the expertise of the Obecto team, we successfully produced a quick, easy-to-use system that provides various functionality, among which controller comparison and compatibility check, a custom tool for data import and analysis, as well as an API that could be used by the platform customers. In essence, our efforts have empowered CAN Land to lead the CAN industry standardization and try to reshape a whole market niche. (less)

Obecto, working directly with Universum, designed and developed a scalable and extensible, industry-strength platform. The development process was staged and a lot of the systems were developed separately prior to the initiation of the holistic platform project. The strong architectural approach applied by Obecto in each project stage helped to integrate all individual systems without any friction and keep the platform consistent. The Universum Talent Networks system consists of several modular applications that function together in order to provide interfaces for different stakeholders including companies, universities, talent, and the Universum staff. Our client Shindig has developed a patent-pending technology for online engagement via video chat. Shindig technology, designed and developed by Obecto, enables revolutionary new types of we (more)b experiences: online events, gaming, social networks, distance learning and other meaningful online activities. For such projects of enormous scope and complexity designing the right software architecture is extremely important. Indeed, as complexity and size of software grows the software architecture becomes more and more important to a point where it dominates technology as a software construction material. In the course of developing the games Bullshit, Bridge and Chess we defined, refined and documented the underlying software architecture. As a result Obecto and Shindig expanded their development efforts by joining new teams into the project. At the same time thе architecture guaranteed that all development was done according to a certain set of rules and principles, following a unified and streamlined approach. Not only have our architectural solutions addressed organizational issues, but they also ensured a set of extremely challenging attributes such as scalability, extensibility, maintainability and reliability. All these attributes can not be solved by simply applying off-the-shelf technologies and existing solutions. For example, the aspect of video communication needed a non-obvious, non-linear synergy between several technologies and architectural approaches. In the end, our efforts resulted in a successful P2P solution, capable of handling hundreds of thousands of simultaneous users. (less)

Due to their fast-growing and demanding business, DreamBox Learning had to find a technology partner to extend and evolve the platform. Obecto integrated directly with the clientâs team, bringing our extensive experience in the RIA (Rich Internet Applications) field. As a result of our collaboration with DreamBox Learning, we developed tens of new tools and helped the evolution to the next generation of the platform. In a series of projects Obecto had built quite an expertise in the promising area of zoomable user interfaces (ZUI). The design challenge in the ePaper project was to successfully combine (more) the ZUI paradigm with the physical experience of browsing a publication. The goal was to make if allow users to read though a publication as an ordinary book, but at the same time immerse into a zoomable screen, which can deliver various levels of detail and additional functionality, such as rating, an option for adding comments and one for sharing selected portions of the publication. Our solution consists of 2 major modules - the Viewer and the Editor. The Viewer is accessible from ordinary users who are browsing through or reading a publication, while the Editor is a special-permissions module, accessible only to the publication editors, who define and edit the interactive portions of the publicationâs content. A complementary part of our solution is a server-based automation service for generating all image pyramids that the ZUI requires. (less)

Our client Shift Global is a globally recognized design agency specialized in generating momentum-building solutions. The company approached us with the request to produce the marketing site (more) theyâve designed for a new brand of extremely high-end gins - OxleyTM gin. As usual, Shift Global provided us with precise down-to-the-pixel designs, detailed interaction requirements and a set of challenging constraints. Since oxleygin.com was a marketing site, its initial download time was of critical importance for the success of the marketing campaign, so Shift Global had fixed constraints on the allowed download time and on the overall size of the application. In addition to that, the development cycle had to be as short as possible, because the start date of the marketing campaign was very close. Considering the time we had, in order to provide such a blazing speed of development, the only available option was to use Adobe Flex, which allows designers and developers to work in parallel. However, Adobe Flex was coming at the price of extra 230KB of framework code, which we knew would lead to an unacceptable delay in the initial download time. So instead of using Flex off-the-shelf we decided to use the FLit framework we had built during the summer of 2009. FLit uses only a small subset of the Flex framework, thus reducing the overhead to the total of only 27KB. In addition to this subset, we had developed our own component model which allowed designers and developers to work in parallel with the same productivity as in Flex. The product has been later re-written in Java Script. Every week during the project we made intermediate deliveries. Each delivery exceeded our clientâs expectations. Three years later Shift Global still give Obecto as an example for unmatched productivity and level of quality. (less)
In the end of 2009 it was requested from Obecto to implement the beautiful designs for the web-site dedicated to the 550th jubilee of the University of Basel. In the course of two months (more)we produced all requested sections and interactions, and also fully integrated them with the enterprise-grade content management system (CMS) TYPO3.
